29/7/10 It is with great regret that I have had to announce that this event has been cancelled. I must thank everyone that entered, all my volunteers that were due to help and people at the various venues where we were to have feed stations and the HQ. Although I was determined to carry on but seeking advice from a very experienced organiser, I realised that I myself wouldn’t be over impressed turning up for for a Sportive with only 20 other riders when we regularly turn out more riders on aclub run ! I apologise for any inconvenience caused
21/7/10 A number of potholes identified and request submitted to authorities to have them repaired/filled in
21/7/10 Shorter route added on website ‘route’ page
26/6/10 Following a number of requests there is now the option of a 50mile route added to the programme
This will mean the first feed being moved forward earlier in the ride by approx 3miles but hopefully will assist riders identify the split, although it will be very well signed
22/6/10 Event published on Cyclosport.org and Bikeradar forums, 1st entry received within 50min. As a 1st time organiser a mixed feeling of relief and excitement
22/6/10 Event published on Cyclosport.org event calendar.
21/6/10 Entries launched via www.entrycentral.com
3/6/10 Part of course ridden, photo’s taken for web page. It was so warm in places that the tarmac was melting. Epic Cycles confirmed as an extra water stop if weather hot.
30/5/10 For riders returning from their European events completed early July i.e. La Marmotte, L’Etape or Maratona dles Dolomites, it is a superb opportunity to demonstrate your extra fitness gained, an event to focus on following such a challenge and to show off that new cycling tan. Lets face it the cyclists tan looks rubbish down at the swimming baths.
29/5/10 Event is ideal for experienced Sportivisters and riders searching for that first big cycling challenge. This is by no means the hardest route but testing for all concerned. The biggest challenge on the day will come after 75 miles, climbing Ankerdine Hill (save a little in the tanks for this one!!)
29/5/10 Work started to launch website, promoting and managing the 3Pears Sportive.
